Hockey's Surgery Appeal
💖🐇 Help keep these bonded buns together 🐇💖
Two-year-old Hockey has already experienced so much. Please help with Hockey's medical care and keep her and her bonded best friend, Dunk together this Valentine's!
Hockey is a sweet, shy bunny who, along with Dunk and 78 other Rabbits and Guinea Pigs, was surrendered into RSPCA Victoria’s care via our Inspectorate following a cruelty report.
Out of all 80 surrendered, Hockey requires the most medical attention.
Will you help Hockey get the surgery she needs!
Upon admission, Hockey’s right eye was cloudy and our vet team immediately suspected glaucoma, a disease caused by an increase in the pressure of the eye. Once confirmed, Hockey was started on medication to control the pressure and pain, but unfortunately it didn't help, Hockey needs to have her blind, painful eye removed.
Hockey’s eye removal was scheduled for today but just last week, an abscess was found forming over an old fracture on her right leg – very close to a joint. Antibiotics were not healing the abscess and Dr. Supanee, our Expert Veterinary Surgeon specialising in unusual pets including Rabbits, made the call to amputate, as the risk of infection was too great.
Hockey has taken well to being a tripod bunny, recovering well and already eating just one hour after surgery. All with her best friend by her side.
With two more surgeries including her eye removal and spay, Dr. Supanee has made the call to keep the bonded buns together as Dunk is providing safety and comfort for Hockey when she needs it most.
We expect Hockey's eye surgery to cost $1100. This is on top of the $950 spent to amputate her leg and the further cost of her desexing. Will you please help us shoulder the cost and give Hockey and Dunk the life they deserve?
Thank you for opening your heart to animals and contributing what you can to Hockey's emergency fund. With your kindness, Hockey and Dunk will find their forever home, together
*The goal for Hockey's fundraiser includes the cost of her amputation and eye removal. If funds raised in Hockey's name exceed target, additional funds will contribute to Hockey's after care and the treatment, rehabilitation and rehoming of other animals in need.
